How do you get a Hanix mini excavator 2,500 foot up the highest mountain in England.  But more to the point  .... why??

Please read on.........

Looking across from the bottom of Lord's Rake you can see the new path zig zagging up towards Ligmel Col.  The digger can just be seen as a small orange spec at the head of the zig zag

Another view from Mickledore

Zoomed in on the diiger

Taken from jst above the digger with Wastwater, the deepest Lake in england in the background. You can also see the Isle of Man on the horizon

The philosophy is to keep the path higher than the surrounding ground to encourage run off .

The national trust are carrying out erosion control and path repairs due to the incredible erosion /wear and tear from the thousands of three peakers.  The digger was helicoptered up in three lifts and then re-assembled.  How do you fancy the job of walking the 60 minute climb each day to start your shift?

A family on holiday from Epsom Downs were happy to take a break after climbing the highest mountain.  Well done James, Simon and Amy.....and of course Mum and Dad
