The race starts from the entrance to the car park - 25 runners make this a popular event in the FRA callendar - grateful thanks to Jim Davis, CFR Statistition (guy on the left with the small rucksack) who made sure that all the arrangements were appropriate for an FRA event.

The first three runners all broke George Crayston 2002 record as Tim Austin (Dark Peak) and Nick Fish (Ambleside) broke clear early on the race to the summit. Tim had the better decent and pulled clear to finish outside the Wasdale Head Hotel in a new course record.

With the girls race Lindsay was first to the top ahead of Nicky Geoffe a recent Black Coombe recruit but with the long flat run in Nicky pulled clear when the girls hit the road. Lindsay’s record of the previous year was unchallenged on this occasion.

Good to see a strong turn out from the blue & whites on a fantastic day up the Wasdale valley. This race is certainly worthy of a place in next years club championships.

Thanks go to Howard Christie of the Wasdale Head Inn and Tim Brookes of the Lingmel Guest House for sponsoring the race and in Tim’s case marshalling at the summit.

All proceeds raised were in aid of the Wasdale Mountain Rescue Team and around £100 was collected on the day through race entry fees and a raffle.
