Not he happiest fella in the lake district today although he managed to take one step out the front door when we left. However gravity was helping and getting back into the flat wasn't easy.

Situation at 5.00 pm Friday 11th April - Jamie back at his Staveley flat after being discharged from Barrow Hospital on the Tuesday following the accident. He has five fracture in his pelvis, two fractured wrists and the left wrist (Jamie is left handed) was badly fractured and dislocated requiring open surgery. He will go to Kendal Hospital on Thursday 24th, two days before the wedding to have his stitches checked. It is expected that he will remain off work for some time and require physio on his legs, wrists and fingers. Dental treatment will be sorted soon. He can move on a crutch or wheelchair at present. It will take some time to get over it emotionally. |

£400 knee brace manufactured by Snow & Rock or Body Factor (Chertsey) - not for Jamie but for me!
|
Jamies brand new harness (standard company harness) which was cut away by the paramedics. Cut leg loops and waist belt
| This is the 600 mm sling that held Jamie securely to the zip wire hook |

The carabiner is not a screw gate nor a twist lock carabiner. It actually does not always spring closed (i.e. fail-safe)- see above - RHS correct, LHS still slightly open and might not take a heavy shock load, possibly bursting open. |

The platform in the tree is the start of the tarzan swing / zip wire run.
The French instructor/ assessor was stood on this platform watching when
the rescue procedure was being carried out.
This was the first time this procedure had been undertaken on this bit of equipment. The rescuer had already been assessed and certified and had carried out this same procedure many times before |
|
| The person in the middle of the picture is standing where Jamie landed. Jamie fell from about the level of the timber platform seen at the top right of the photo (about 10m). This was a multiple casualty exercise where another client was simulated to be in trouble on the wooden platform at the same time e.g. a friend of the casualty who observed the incident and freaked out. | ![]() |

If you look carefully you can see the netting that marks the end of the run.
| This is a typical shot of a client using the tarzan swing zip wire and hitting the net. They then have to get themselves off the zip wire and onto the net. They then climb off to the platform to continue the course. | ![]() |
